We’re Kate and Julia the co-founders of LOCALITY! Just a couple of girls sharing our love and passion for all the fantastic things the Okanagan Valley has to offer! We launched our local Okanagan based subscription box service in February 2018 and have had a great response from Okanagan lovers across Canada.

Here is a little background on us: We are both born and raised Okanagan girls.  Julia was born and raised in Vernon and I (Kate) was born and raised in Kelowna.  Both of us lived away from the Okanagan for many years, we connected in Vancouver thanks to our husbands who knew one another through their work.   We ended up living across the street from each other in Port Moody and then both made our way back home to the Okanagan within months of one another!

One late summer day in August 2017 we were hanging out on Kalamalka Lake talking about ideas, our love for the Okanagan, life with young kids and what our next steps were in terms of our careers when we decided to join forces and start LOCALITY!!

Our goal with LOCALITY was ultimately to play a part in the ‘SHOP LOCAL’ movement by providing our members with easy access to beautiful, artisanally made Okanagan based products and brands. Our dream is to capture a feeling of pride, love and personal connection to an area that has so much to offer in terms of lifestyle.

Whether you live in Toronto, Vancouver, the Okanagan Valley or anywhere in between; you now have access to the flavours of the Okanagan all year round with our seasonally curated subscription box. Our boxes are $84.99 per quarter and there are products worth anywhere from $120-150 inside the box. You can expect to find products such as bath and body, health and wellness, non-perishable food items and accessories. Our boxes are curated by us and delivered to our members every season!  We are also teaming up with wineries and other local business to offer free tastings discounts and prize packs for our members.

We recently launched and sold out of our Summer Launch Box. We sent out boxes all over the Okanagan Valley and across Canada as far as Ottawa and Toronto.  We had a great response from members and some super exciting posts from influencers like Jillian Harris!  This was obviously great exposure for us and for the artisans and partners featured in the box.  We have opened up more spots for our Fall Box so sign up quick so you don’t miss out on this awesome local surprise!!

We are super excited about our Fall Box and have some really cool exclusive products that you will only be able to get if you order now!  Sales for the Fall Box close at the end of July or as soon as we sell out.  Follow us on Instagram to get all the updates @iamlocality and check out our website www.iamlocality.com to see all the products featured in our Summer Launch Box and to order the Fall Box! 1. What a fun idea! I love getting subscription boxes in the mail, and the variety this one seems to offer would be really exciting to unbox!

  2. This is a great idea! The boxes would make wonderful gifts for loved ones who are far from home. One of our daughters lives in California, while we live in Ohio–I wish there was an easy way like this to send her local products.

  3. I admire your courage to participate in this venture. It must take great fortitude to embark on such a project.Ordering your products and marketing them would scare me to death as I know I am not a good sales person. I wish you continued success. .

  4. I always admire people, especially women who launch their own business from an idea that stemmed out of a collaboration. What a great way to introduce to the rest of the world what Okanagan is. I personally didn’t know where that was until I dug deeper!

  5. I like the picture of your box and I am so happy that this is being sold in Toronto! Every time I am interested in a subscription box — they have a U.S residents only warning and that’s so unfortunate!

    • For now, the boxes are shipped Canada wide Vaishali ,but I am sure these gals will have a successful and expanding business, sign up for their email to stay in the loop!

  6. What a wonderful way to support local artisans in your community! I love it! Glad that the sales have gone well so far; I think you’ll have much success going forward.

  7. One of my favorite things is seeing women get out there and grab the bull by the horns. Wonderful story and hopefully you;ll be able to expand outside of Canada sooner rather than later because I’d love to give this box a go.

    Great post! x

  8. I’m all about supporting local business. If I lived closer I’d give it a try but sadly I’m from the other end of the world >.<
More power to both of you!

    • Hey Jen!! Thanks for the love. We still have a few spots left for the Fall Box so get your hands on one quick if you are interested. Thanks for the comment babe!

  9. This is AWESOME! The subscription box for feminists slash people who believe in supporting each other vs. competing with each other. I love this so much.

  10. Des

What a great box to subscribe too! I love the idea and I love supporting other women! And the price is so reasonable for all those goodies … I’m going to go learn more.

    • Hey Des!! Awesome! This is the perfect way to support local, such a great treat for yourself or a nice gift for someone else! Thanks for checking us out, we hope you like what you see! XOXO. PS: There is still a short time left to get the Fall Box.

This looks like an incredible way to connect with the local goodies! I wish I lived closer to give it a try!

    • Hi Carolyn! Thanks for the feedback:) This is definitely something we have discussed and we have lots of ideas and plans in the works. For now we are shipping our LOCALITY boxes across Canada! Thanks again for your comment. XO

  12. Aaawww this almost reminded me of an episode of “Easy”, where two young, cool women start their soap production-company. I really like the idea of local produce, and wish you success!
