A heart-centered life at its very core is LOVE.  Let love guide you as you read this article, and make a conscious decision to follow your heart always.

First and foremost, you must be sweet to yourself.  Yes, you actually need to show compassion and kindness towards yourself and love all that you are.  It is thru a true self-love discovery and awareness that you will come to understand what love is.  The more you nurture self from a heart perspective, the more compassion you demonstrate on a daily basis in your thoughts, words and actions towards others.  Hear me clearly, this is not about selfishness or a ‘me me’ mentality but rather a knowledge and realization that you can only give what you are and have.

Accepting who you are and knowing who you are will improve your relationship with yourself and become the foundation for your relationship with others.  If you are empty you can not pour out.  If you do not love yourself and have love within you, you can not consistently give love, kindness, respect or compassion to others.  If you love and forgive yourself first, everything else will start to fall into place.  Be sweet to yourself today by choosing one of these seven self love practices.

Secondly, if you don’t begin to think of others with love and compassion then at some point, self-love and self-healing will become self centered.  So once you find a new sense of self-love and self compassion, you will inevitably develop a stronger concern and compassion for others.  A newfound empathy and reality wherein you value community and a care for others.  You will start to see yourself in everyone you come into contact with every day.  We are all one human family and when we live in unity, in a heart-centered manner we stop fearing our differences and begin to celebrate diversity.  Remember that you must first increase your self-love which in turn changes your thoughts, words and actions towards others and guides you into an empathetic approach towards all people and all situations.

And number three, without a doubt will follow when you build upon your self-love.  Yes your love and compassion for others will grow, and also result in a stronger compassion for our planet Earth.  So number three is when you love yourself and all those around you, you will develop concern for our planet Earth that we all call home.  You should and will make an effort to keep our planet the healthiest it can be for everyone you share it with.  A heart-centered life is one concerned about the well being of our home, one that is mindful of actions and tries to preserve all of nature, including animals, plants, the air and the water.  When you live from the heart, you come to understand that there is a sacred balance in nature, nothing is more or less worthy.  We need to respect all of nature and live in harmony.

These three key areas are instrumental in leading a rewarding and meaningful life.  If you want to live a heart-centered life, you must make a conscious decision to pair the power of your mind with the wisdom of your heart.  We are intellectual and spiritual creatures that need to recognize all facets of our being.  In order to live to your highest potential, you must not deny any part that makes up the whole. What does it Mean to Lead a Heart-Centered Life?

Leading a heart-centered life means you live aligned to your true values and self, you live with compassion and love as the guiding principles in your life.  Sounds simple enough and you might think that it’s easy to live by the values that truly matter to us but this in not always the case.  Childhood incidences, life circumstances, negative relationships, or hurtful moments may hold you back from living as you are meant to and from reaching your full potential.  Being true to yourself will help you narrow down what really matters, eliminate what doesn’t and live a balanced life.  It may take time to change and gain a healthier mindset but trust me, it is worth the work.  I am working on part two of this series where I will share three main areas you can focus on to put a heart-centered life into action.
