I always love bringing out all of my decor bins and changing things up around the house with seasonal items to spruce things up but I also make sure to invest into home decor pieces that can be used all year round. Less stuff and less spending is always in a win in my books!  #homedecor #cozyhome #homeideas

I’m Gladys and I love books, Jesus, exploring the mall and small shops, encouraging others, and decorating of course. I’ve always loved stories and I firmly believe in the power of words, of using the voice we’ve been given to better the lives of those around us. I also believe in the transforming power of paint, taking risks, gratitude, deep conversations, and turning your house into a home you love. Whether it’s a DIY, strolling through IKEA, watching a Hallmark Channel movie with my husband, or connecting and encouraging a fellow sister in Christ, I find joy in these moments, in the everyday things that shape the story of our life.  Let’s be friends on Instagram, you can find me @ourhappilyeverhome.  You can also follow along and get more decorating tips and tricks on my blog at hhttps://ourhappilyeverhome.com/.

I always love bringing out all of my decor bins and changing things up around the house for every season. It might be chaos in the midst of the process, but it’s always a lot of fun!   Right now we’re in the midst of Fall, which is always such a fun time to make the home feel cozy and invitingI love seasonal decor, sprucing things up each season, but I also make sure to invest into home decor pieces that can be used all year round. Less stuff and less spending is always in a win in my books!  Here are my favorite seven ways to make a home cozy every season.

Throw pillows.

Throw pillows are one of my favorite ways to decorate and style the rooms in my home. They are so versatile and the options are endless!  Not only can you buy them for different seasons, but there are so many talented makers that allow for changing things up. Want to know my easy throw pillow storage hack?  It changed how I buy my throw pillows for good and makes my home cozy every season.

Candles.

Candles are a must in my home. I think it’s something my mom passed on to me, because to this day when you enter the door to her home, she has a candle lit somewhere in the home.  Candles are cozy every season and always so welcoming. And who doesn’t love a nice-smelling home right?  There are tons of options out there for seasonal candles, but also so many “neutral” kinds for any time of year as well.

Baskets.

Confession: I love baskets! They add so much texture to a space and the best thing is, you can keep them around year round and just change out what’s inside of them.  An amazing hack about baskets: You can store those not-so-appealing items like remote controls or charger cords, or store your throw pillows in them when they get removed from the bed every night.

Greenery.

This is my favorite trick for sprucing up rooms in my home.  If something seems lacking in a space, just add some greenery and you’ll instantly see the room transform before your eyes.  There are tons of options available, both real and faux for those who are less keen to deal with real plants. (I’m one of those, I have not yet mastered how to keep plants alive).  Every room in your house can be cozy every season with the simple addition of plants.

Signs.

Who doesn’t love decorating with signs?! They are such a fun addition to any room.

Use them for:

I love investing in signs that I can keep around throughout the year, but I also love adding in smaller signs for different seasons.  Christmas is especially a fun time to add in those festive signs. I love going to Markets, supporting small shops, and discovering new makers that are so talented with their sign making and other crafts.

Rugs.

Rugs are so fun to style in a space. It always amazes me how it can transform the whole look and feel of a room simply by adding or swapping out your rug.  There’s a cool trick that I love when it comes to rugs, and any home decor really, referred to as “shopping your home.”  If you’re itching to switch things up, see what you can find in another area of your home that you could bring into the space you’re working on.  It allows you to bring new life and love the pieces you have in a whole new way again. The bonus is that a rug warms up the space and adds to the cozy factor every season too!

Sentimental Pieces.

I think we all have certain pieces of decor or furniture that have a story or history.  When my husband’s grandpa passed, his grandma was purging a lot of their belongings and he got to take home a whole truckload of items.  One of these cherished items is a vintage 1930 radio player. It still works and always proves to be a fun little story when guests ask us about it.  Your home decor doesn’t need to be the “latest trend” or anything that’s not you. Personal items with sentiment are a great way to add coziness to your home that never goes out of style with the changing seasons.  Other fun ways to bring in personal items are through art or collections. Maybe it’s mugs, or vintage rolling pins, or milk glass.

Whatever it is, it’s a great way to add charm to your home that brings in coziness throughout the changing seasons.  Don’t you just love finding ways to make your home feel warm and inviting every season?

Here’s a recap on 7 ways to make your home cozy every season:

  1. Use throw pillows

  1. Greenery is always a problem for me. Plants don’t last (black thumb) and fake ones just get too dusty! I admire all of your decorating ideas and the pictures also make it feel so soft and clean! Thanks for the tips!

  2. All of these ideas work well, but my favorite is that little white rug in your office! With the wainscoting on the wall, the rug gives your beautiful little office that cozy, I’d like to work here feel!

I love season specific throw pillows and candles! They change up the colors a little bit and make the room a whole lot cheerful. I love smelling the smells of a specific season as well!

  4. Lovely ideas. I like to have green plants around me. I feel they add freshness feeling. Smell Candles are perfect to add glam to the home atmosphere.

  8. Aw–I love these ideas! I definitely think rugs warm up a home and I love the inclusion of baskets and signs! One thing I need to incorporate is greenery. I don;t really have a green thumb, but I could absolutely get a low maintenance plant, or a fake one! Thanks for sharing!

Towards the end of each year, I start reviewing my home décor & also consider buying new things for a cozier place!
